Queen of Ambition

Upcoming SBS TV Mon-Tue drama 'Queen of Ambition' starring Kwon Sang Woo and Soo Ae will make its debut in January of next year.

The production team recently released a movie-like teaser for the drama which sees Soo Ae and Kwon Sang Woo holding guns against each other, and generating much attention from viewers.

The teaser which was first revealed on December 24th wasn't anything like the usual drama teasers that you get, but instead resembled a long poem or grand film-like teaser instead. Viewers who saw the teaser said that it was like an ultimate mind-blowing reversal and like a music video.

The 40 second long teaser begun with a pair of black and white dices that symbolized the love between Kwon Sang Woo and Soo Ae. But the scene soon fades to shattering glass in the middle, as the two who once loved each other, faces off against each other with guns, hinting at the beginning of tragedy. Kwon Sang Woo was decked out in a black suit, while Soo Ae wore a white dress, another hint of the different paths that they were heading down. Their emotions told the whole story of their love, betrayal, hate, and pity, with tears streaming down their faces as we end with sounds of gunshots.

During the teaser, Soo Ae said in her narration, "I loved him more than when we first met, the person who I missed most than when we were in love. Kwon Sang Woo said in his narration, "Going through every night with my eyes open, with the hope of perishing together. I once loved someone who gave me much joy and destruction." The narrations were provoking and left a deep impression. The last words were actually taken from poet Lee Jung Ha's poem 'The one that I once loved', and hinted at Kwon Sang Woo and Soo Ae's relationship which will ultimately lead to destruction.

The story is just like Lee Jung Ha's representative work 'You were dazzling, I was bitter', and talks of Kwon Sang Woo who loves Soo Ae greatly, as the latter becomes the First Lady of the nation through hard work and become revered by billions. Although they once saw each as the only one in their lives, they have now becomes thorns instead.

Besides the beautiful sequences, the background music was equally beautiful in the teaser. The use of the piano and cello sounds meshed well with the fast tempo instrumentals, and brought out the dramatic sequences in the teaser perfectly, creating for a exciting teaser overall.

It was reported that the first teaser took 15 hours of filming and a month of post-production before it was released. With so much attention and effort devoted to the first teaser, the drama has to definitely be equally as good. So how can the viewers not be anticipating for the first new drama of 2013 'Queen of Ambition' to be shown on their television screens?
